Total time: 20 minutes
Difficulty: medium
Ingredients: 360 ml rice, 450 ml water
Preparation:
1. Prepare the rice: Take 2 cups of rice and rinse it thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear. Place the rice in a bowl and let it soak in the water for 30 minutes.
2. Add rice and water to the pot: After soaking, add the rice and 2 1/2 cups of water to a pot. Cover the pot and set the stove to high heat.
3. Bring the water to a boil: After a few minutes, the water will begin to boil. Once it boils, remove the lid from the pot.
Adjust the heat: When you see the water decreasing slightly, reduce the heat to medium. When the water is almost gone, reduce the heat to low. As soon as you hear a faint crackling (a "pop" sound) and there is no more water in the pot, turn off the heat.
4. Let the rice steam: Leave the lid on the pot and let the rice rest (steam) for 5 minutes.
Rice is ready: After steaming, gently fluff the rice with a fork or spoon. Now the rice is ready to serve!
Additional tips:
- A pot with a thick bottom ensures that the rice cooks evenly and does not burn.
- The amount of water can be adjusted depending on the desired consistency of the rice.
